Obituary of LaRue John Hastings

HASTINGS, LARUE JOHN, 84 Citra - John Hastings, age 84, passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2009 at Sylvia's House, Ocala. He was born in El Paso, TX on October 26, 1924 and has been in Marion County since he was 2 months old. John was 1st County Building Inspector of Marion County and 1st County Zoning Director of Marion County for 18 years. He was a Veteran having served in the US Navy having served in World War II. He was a life member of the D.A.V. and V.F.W. John's hobbies were hunting and playing practical jokes. People in general gave him the most enjoyment in life, along with this family of who is was most proud. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patricia J. Hasting; daughter Cheryl H. Stephens and son Hunter K. Hastings, all of Citra. 4 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren. Memorial Service will be May 2 at 11am at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ocala. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Hospice of Marion County and Disabled American Veterans.
