Obituary of James Sloan

SLOAN, JAMES L. Ocala - James L. Sloan, 80, went to be with the Lord on May 20, 2009 at Munroe Regional Medical Center. He was born in St. Clairsville, OH and moved to Ocala from Clearwater, 19 years ago. He was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church and served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He owned and operated Dickey Scales, Inc. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ethelmae Sloan of Ocala, his daughters, Lynne Homan (Jim) of Palm Harbor and Lee Anne Higel (Bob) of St. Augustine, his son, James Dean Sloan (Kathy) of LaBelle, his sisters, Lois Brown of PA and Wanda Besch of NV, and his grandchildren, Stephanie, Amy, Kristen, Scott, Jeffrey, Mark and Ryan. Funeral services will be Sunday, May 24, 2009 at 3:00 P.M. at Grace Presbyterian Church with Rev. John Blake and Rev. Keith Ledford officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 3-5 PM at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala.. Interment will be at Florida National Cemetery on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 11:00 AM. Those who wish may make contributions to the Mission Ministry of Grace Presbyterian Church, 2255 SE 38th St., Ocala or the Salvation Army.
