Obituary of Laura Lowery

LOWERY, Laura Sue Mrs. Laura Sue Lowery, 52, of Ocklawaha, died Monday, June 8, 2009, at Shand at the University of Florida. A native of Melbourne, Fl., she moved to the Marion County area 20 years ago, moving here from Pennsylvania. Laura received her Master’s Degree from the University of Florida, and was a wildlife biologist with the U.S. Forest Service. She belonged to several wildlife organizations, and was an active member of Highlands Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband Ron Lowery of Ocklawaha, parents Frank & Lillian Cockerham of Melbourne, and her sister Bonnie Baldwin of Virginia. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Highlands Baptist Church, 3530 SE Ft. King St., Ocala, with Rev. Jeff Rountree officiating. Interment will follow in the Waldena Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Friday at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 SE Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala. Memorial contributions may be made to Shands at the University of Florida.
