Obituary of Ann Weldon

(Emily) Ann St. Pierre Weldon Ann St. Pierre Weldon, 87, passed peacefully on Friday, December 11, 2009. Born in Covington, GA, June 15, 1922, she is the daughter of the late Daniel Hess and Mary Brown Anderson Upshaw. Ann married Robert Moore McGann, who was a World War II pilot aboard the USS Essex, Fighter Squadron Air Group 9. He died in action. She met her husband, Joseph, while working as a hat checker at the USO in Miami where both attended the University of Miami. Joseph was a special agent with the FBI, and they were married Oct. 4, 1947. He died Dec. 30, 2002. Ann was a devout defender of the unborn and met Bud Weldon while praying the rosary in front of an abortion clinic. Their friendship was reinforced by their like-interests and they married, Dec. 18, 2004. Bud died in 2006. Ann was an English teacher before becoming a full-time homemaker. After her 10 children were raised, she followed her love of God and worked for years as a dedicated pro-life advocate. She was also an involved member of the Focolare and Catholic Cursillo Movements. She was a member of Queen of Peace Parish in Ocala and former member of St. Helen's Parish in Vero Beach. Ann also enjoyed days out with her friends as a member of the "Red Hat Society," and loved attending any family occasion. She was well known for her unique gifts and generous heart. Ann is survived by nine of her children: Robert (Carole) McGann of O'Brien; Joseph (Linda) St. Pierre, Ocala; Daniel (Mary) St. Pierre, Oviedo; John Paul (Simone) St. Pierre, Raleigh, N.C.; Stella St. Pierre White, Deerfield Beach; William (Kari) St. Pierre, Fairbanks, AK; Albert (Joelle) St. Pierre, Kansas City, MO; James St. Pierre, Dubai; Gerald (Adrienne) St. Pierre, Aurora, MO; 22 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; one brother, James (Gwen) Upshaw, Placerville, CA; and one sister, Martha Robinson, Valparaiso, IN. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Aurora St. Pierre and her daughter-in-law Linda. A Memorial Mass will take place at Queen of Peace Church, 6455 S.W.
