Obituary of Marguerite Crews

Ocala - Marguerite Cooper Crews went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Crews, daughter, June Crews Simmons and son-in-law, John Simmons. Born Dec. 23, 1910 in Eugene, FL, she came to the Ocala area in 1939 from Bronson. She had worked at the old downtown McCrory's for 13 years and then became a housemother at the McPherson School for Girls where she retired. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Belleview. "Nannie" was what she was called by all. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Crews Johnson and husband John of Ocala, her sister, Cecile Varn and husband Aaron of Ruskin, her grandchildren, Jimmy Simmons and wife Kathi of Plant City, Jay Simmons and wife Denise of Maryville, TN, Kim Johnson of Ocala and Nick Harbin of Ocala, her great grandchildren, Lisa Simmons, Buddy Simmons and wife Heather, Jami Lynn Simmons, Stephanie Simmons, Jennifer Simmons, Makayla Simmons and Drew Harbin and great great grandchildren, Erin, Bryan and Auorina and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. The family would like to thank Dan Willis, Cecile Cooke of Hospice and her caregiver Tammy Mohan for their years of compassionate care.Arrangements by Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 E.
