My granddaddy was the most caring individual who thought of others before himself.
I was his "sugar" and for some reason he gave me whatever I wanted, maybe it was because I was his only grand daughter or maybe he was just that kind of man :)
I am so thankfull that he was able to meet both of his great grandsons and spend time with them before he passed. He will be greatly missed and is very much loved.

Uncle Carl was a good man. He was devoted to serving his lord. He was a loving husband and a dedicated father to his two sons. He was a hard-working and faithful employee to B&B. He performed bravely in the uniform of his country during World War II. He was a strong man who could tackle anything and who didn't let adversity get him down. He was quick with a smile, a joke, and a laugh. The world got much quieter after he slipped away from it and I miss him terribly. I will always love you Uncle Carl. Grace Rorie
The picture below is of me and Uncle Carl in January 1973, much younger and much happier days.

I will always remember Uncle Carl's laugh and his love and devotion to his family. When Uncle Carl, Aunt Dora, Dennis and Roger came to visit in North Carolina they would stay with my family. We all looked so forward to their stays. Our house would just ring with My dad's and Uncle Carl's laughter. The talks that would go on long into the night filled with humor and memories and so much of Uncle Carls' wisdom, will always stand out in my memory. I will miss him so much but I know right now there is one of those "talks" taking place and he is catching up with everyone that has gone on before. All my love to you Uncle Carl. Katrina Rorie

Uncle Carl is one of a kind! He could be funny and kind and hard as nails when he needed to be. I love him dearly and will miss his wit and charm.
He was patient with Jared when he taught him to shoot a BB gun ,he first time. He was there for AJ and I on many occasions when we needed help or advice on fixing stuff around the house. We were glad we could help him in later years.
When I was a child (5-7) the B&B crew and families were staying out of town while they installed equipment in a new grocery store. Uncle Carl pulled a joke on me( that I told him in later years) that broke my wee little heart. He asked me if I wanted to take a ride with him. He didn't say any place special and I didn't care. I thought I was such a big girl just me and MY UNCLE going together! We got in the car , backed up, then he parked the car in another spot. I remember crying and he got tickled at my temper tantrum. The bigger my tantrum the more tickled he got. He made up for it with a nice big ice cream cone later. I told him in later years I'd stayed mad with him and pouted for quite a while before I forgave him and we laughed about it .
I really enjoyed when he would bring his guitar over to the house and he and others would play and sing. (one of my favorite family memories)
LOVE YA Glenda, AJ and Jared
