Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Semenick

SEMENICK, Mary E. Mary E. Semenick, 89, went to be with the Lord on June 29, 2010 after a prolonged illness. Born in Portland, Indiana, she was a lifelong resident of Indianapolis until she moved to Ocala, FL in 1987. Mary professed Jesus as the Christ, the Son of the Living God and her personal Savior at the age of 12 in 1933 and renewed her profession of faith every five years thereafter. She lived a sacrificial life of service to God, family and others. One of her favorite Bible verses was 3 John 4 "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth." She raised five children, who are all Christ- followers, led a children's Bible study in her home for two decades, and was an active member of the Christian Church. She graduated from Women's and Children's Hospital in Chicago as a Registered Nurse and practiced nursing for over 60 yrs. As a Navy Lieutenant, she served as an RN in Kodiak, Alaska during WWII, where she met and married Max, her husband of 47 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Max and her sister, Virginia Bartlett. She is survived by her sister Barbara Clark; four sons: John (Donna), Paul, Doug (Carolyn) and Phillip (Karen); and one daughter Winifred. Mary is blessed with 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. Funeral Services will be held in the Hiers-Baxley Chapel at 910 E. Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala, FL on July 3 at 1pm with visitation an hour before the funeral and on Friday, July 2 from 5-7pm. Rev. Max Semenick, her grandson, will officiate.
