Obituary of Margaret May Ferris

Ocala - Margaret May Ferris, 82, died at her home on June 29, 2010. She was born in Augusta, GA on July 2, 1927 to Edwin May and Margaret Sheppard May and spent her youth in Palatka, FL. Margaret achieved her bachelor's degree from Furman University and a master's degree from the University of Florida. She moved to the Ocala area in 1948 and was an English teacher at Osceola Middle School for 32 years and also taught in Denver, CO for 4 years and Palatka, FL for 2 years. Mrs Ferris volunteered for 25 years at Munroe Regional Medical Center and 4 years with Meals on Wheels. A member of the Retired Teachers' Association, Delta Kappa Gamma and Central Christian Church, Margaret enjoyed bridge, gardening, reading, traveling and spending time with friends and family. She is survived by her husband, John C. Ferris, Ocala; son John E. Ferris and wife Sheri, Ocala; granddaughter, Krystal, Orlando; sister-in-law Janet Manchette and husband Ron, NC; neice Kerri Brush Whittaker and husband Stan, great neice Emily and great nephew Trey, NC; A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Central Christian Church, 3010 NE 14th Street, Ocala, FL 34470 with Pastors Douglas James Reed and Ed Conerty officiating. Inurnment will be at the Palatka Memorial Cemetery, July 7, 2010 at 3:00 PM.
