Obituary of William Pfeiffer

Ret. Col. William Joseph Pfeiffer, 83, passed away November 29, 2010 at Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala. Mr. Pfeiffer was born in Jamaica, NY to the late William J. Pfeiffer and Lucy M. (Campbell) Pfeiffer. Mr Pfeiffer was a retired Colonel in the U.S. Army, Air Defense Artillery serving at Ft. Bliss, Texas and other post in the United States and overseas in Iran, Okinawa, Korea and Vietnam. Mr. Pfeiffer was a member of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA), Angela Santos VFW Post #4781 of Ocala, and the American Legion of Nashua, NH. After retirement from the military Mr. Pfeiffer worked as a Program Manager with Raytheon Corp. in Bedford, MA for 12 years working on the Patriot Missile Program and working 6 years in Saudi Arabia. He was Roman Catholic by faith and a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ocala. He studied with the Passionist Order from 1944- 1951. He enjoyed family, traveling, reading, and music. Mr. Pfeiffer leaves behind his loving wife of 56 years, Carol Anne Pfeiffer of Ocala; six children, William T. Pfeiffer and wife Kathleen of Hampton, VA; Leo J. Pfeiffer and wife Linda of Springfield, VA; Laurence M. Pfeiffer and wife Gail of Glenelg, MD; Janine M. Phaneuf and husband Joseph of Old Forge, NY; Suzanne M. Pfeiffer of Springfield, VA; and Michael T. Pfeiffer and wife Jennifer of Milford, MA; 12 grandchildren, Robert, Elizabeth, John, William, Katie, Rebecca, Matthew, Sam, Maddie, Olivia, Maxwell and Jackson; two great-granddaughters Elle and Berkeley; two sisters, Marianne Gallagher and husband Tom of Ridge, NY and Catherine Watters and husband Jim of Calverton, NY; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Lucy M. Starin-Adler in 2001. Funeral Mass for Mr. Pfeiffer will be Friday, Dec. 3, 2010 at 8:30 AM at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, SR 200 Ocala with Father Patrick J. O'Doherty officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010 from 2- 4 & 6 - 8 PM at Hiers-Baxley TimberRidge Chapel, 9695 SW 110th St., Ocala with a prayer service at 4:00 PM. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery Arlington, VA. with full military honors. Condolences may be posted to hiers-baxley.com.
