Obituary of George Anthony Mercadante

George Anthony Mercadante, age 74, of The Villages, Florida, a retired fire hydrant engineer at MDC Water Bureau, Hartford, CT, passed away at his residence on February 11, 2011. George was born in Hartford, CT and moved from Rocky Hill, CT to The Villages, FL in 2007. His hobbies included golf, avid collector of stamps, postcards, Hess and NASCAR memorabilia. George was a member of The Connecticut Club, Italian/American Club of The Villages, and was Past Post Commander of VFW Post 1009, Bloomfield, CT. He served in the U.S. Army. George will always be remembered by his friendly personality, quick wit, and his infectious smile. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife Nancy Mercadante of The Villages, Florida; one son Michael Mercadante (Denise); and two daughters: Michelle Mercadante and Kim Pombar (Andrew), all of VT; his Aunt Margaret and Uncle Pat Robinson of Bloomfield, CT; Brother in law: Tim Quaranta (Anna) of The Villages; Nancy's Aunts: Josephine and Betsy, both of CT; as well as four grandchildren: Brittany, Justin, Derek, and Dylan. SERVICES: Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Feb 16, 2011 at St. Timothy's Catholic Community; Interment following at Florida National Bushnell with Military Honors.
