Obituary of Richard Eldridge Wilson

WILSON, Richard E. "Dick" Richard E. "Dick" Wilson, 80, ascended from his earthly journey into everlasting life on March 27, 2011. He was born in Detroit, MI on July 22, 1930. In his childhood, he loved baseball, horses and participating in rodeos. Upon graduating from high school, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy in the Korean War on an aircraft carrier which took him to many ports of call. He was stationed at NAS Jacksonville in 1951 when he met his wife of 57 years, Lois Warnock Wilson of Oxford, FL. He attended Jacksonville University to study veterinary medicine, was a charter member of the Skeleton Key club and played on the golf team. He later became employed by Chevron Oil Company in Marketing and Sales taking him to several Florida locations and eventually to Ocala until his retirement where he has resided the last 35 years. He celebrated his life with family and friends hunting, fishing, boating, cooking and making them laugh. He was well known for his sense of humor, love for fun and telling stories. He was an avid golfer and loved watching hockey, old war and western movies, golf and NASCAR. He was a 32nd degree mason and proud to be a Shriner with the Ocala Shrine Club. He has also been a member of the Optimist club, Elks club and the First United Methodist Church of Ocala. His presence and love for life will forever be remembered... He was preceded in death by his son, Rick Wilson in 2008, his beloved dog, Sammy in 2011, one brother and two sisters. He is also survived along with his wife Lois, daughter Suzy Wilson, Daytona Beach Shores; daughter in law, Donna LaPierre Wilson, Jensen Beach; several generations of nieces and nephews and four grand dogs. Upon his request, there will be no memorial celebration at this time. A gathering may be planned at a later date. In his memory, contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 12502 Pine Drive, Tampa, FL 33612. .
