Obituary of Nancy Carol Michael

Michael, Nancy Focht Ocala - Nancy F. Michael, 72, passed away suddenly at MRMC on April 9, 2011. She was born on May 19, 1938 in Eaton, Ohio. She graduated from Ohio State University in 1960 with a BA in Elementary Education. She married her high school sweetheart, Tom on August 20, 1960 in Eaton. She taught in the Worthington, Ohio school system from 1960-1981 as an elementary educator. The family moved to Ocala in 1981 where she worked as the Media Specialist at Eighth Street Elementary from 1982-2005. Throughout her career, Nancy implemented and embraced programs for the development of children through education. She was active in various civic clubs and her church, singing in the choir, chairing committees and leader of Circle 7. Nancy was most proud of her family and lived life with an upbeat, positive, Christian attitude. Her love and outlook is her family and friends living legacy. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Tom. Her children; Kristen (Bill) Crawford, Michelle Michael, and Kyle, CDR US Navy (Susan) Michael. Four grandchildren; James, Thomas, Kyla, and Kaitlin Michael. Three step grandchildren; Jessie, Kathryn, and John Crawford. Two granddogs: Koa and Kona. She is also survived by her sister; Doris Ann Sadler, and brother, Donald (Judith) Focht, and many loving nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at 3:00 PM, at First Presbyterian Church, 511 SE 3rd Street. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes contributions to the Presbyterian Women Circle 7, in care of the church, designated to their mission for homeless children in Marion County.
