Obituary of Wayne G. Vaught

: Wayne passed away June 1, 2011 at the age of 71. He was born on July 5, 1939 at Trout Creek, Montana. Wayne worked for the Marion County Sheriff's Office and retired with 30 years of service. He was a Captain of the Mounted Patrol. He also served as a reserve officer until his death. Continuing with his passion to serve his community, he was involved with the Greenway Trails, was a school resource officer, and was involved with the Horses for Hospice Program. Wayne was a veteran of the US Air Force serving several years. His passion for his horses was well known throughout the county. Wayne never met a stranger, and he was a friend to all. He is survived by sisters, Lois and Leona of Sandpoint, ID., Alice of Philadelphia, PA., and Jeanette (Toots) of Columbus, OH. Sons; Terry and his wife Jeanette, Jeff of Washington, and Chris of Texas; sister-in-law, Dixie of Washington. Also surviving are his grandkids, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Violet and Presly Vaught; son, Randy, and brothers, Wilbur and Harold. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 6 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 SE Silver Springs Blvd. Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, June 7 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Ocala, 2801 SE Maricamp Road. A Graveside service at the Florida National Cemetery will take place following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Marion County.
