Obituary of Helms Pitts

PITTS, Helms Mr. Helms Pitts, 93, of Ocala, died Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Sylvia's Hospice House. A native of Thomaston, Georgia, he and his family moved to Ocala in 1961, coming here from Thomaston. Mr. Pitts proudly served his country in the Army Air Force during WW II. He retired from the US Post Office where he worked as a postal clerk for many years. He was a member of Oakcrest Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary F. Pitts; son Dr. Jeffrey Pitts (Linda); son-in-law Randy Brown (Diedre); grandsons Byron J. Pitts (Leslie); Clayton Brown; granddaughters Dorothy Pitts Brindle (Aaron); Lauren Brown; Jennie Matthews; and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Dr. Claire Pitts Brown. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Oakcrest Baptist Church, 1109 NE 28th Street, with Rev. William D. Terrell officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 9 AM until service time. Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala, Fl. is handling arrangements.
