Sad to see Mr. Judy has passed. I'm 4 years late but remember him well. I was an intern under Ron Gunther in 1978-79 and attended many meetings with Mr. Judy, learning about airport operations. He was brilliant, and his "aviation team" was outstanding. Rest in Peace, Mr. Judy.

Rest in Peace Uncle Richard, I will miss you and never forget you in my Heart. You were a great Uncle, and for me, a father. I used to tell people you were my Dad because we shared the same name, you never said ,no Im his Uncle, never, Iloved you for that. I just wish I had listened to what you tried to learn me,about what it took to be a man. Because you were small in physical stature you sure as hell cast a huge shadow, something I think no one is this current crop of Judy's willever come close to filling. You truly were and to some degree, now, one of a kind.
Im sorry i missed your funeral but i lost you a while back, i suppose everything is as it is supposed to be. very sad. Thank-you for being there for me after mom's death.
Well enough of memory lane i know you didnt like all the gushy stuff.
I know i never told you this but i always hated my name because i felt like i had to uphold that name to a very high standard (hard to do with a drink in your hand).
It will be my biggest regret in life that I didnt do just that.
Ill always remember the breakfasts at Dobbs House you always treated me to
(2 eggs OM,those little round potatoes, ham steak, rye tst, coffee, juice (i can almost taste them now) oh yeah and the Denny's brkfst too before we went to your house to mow the yard, and then Aunt Sonya would make us lunch.....very sweet memories.
Thanks for coming to Gainesville and all you did there for me(Aunt Sonya too!)
Thanks for financially supporting me while I was in federal prison, it literally saved my life(Louise was very helpful too!) you were the ONLY ones everyone i wrote too sent a letter back saying dont write and dont call im right where im supposed to be. Fortunately, for me , you saw things differently which is why you are where your at and they are whre they are at.
Thanks for helping my brothers Aaron and Jeff and Dave
Thanks for all those turkeys and all the fixins you brought to everybody every thanksgiving!!! (in your big blue station wagon!!)
Thanks to Jesus you or someone was never hurt or kiled by that big blue station wagon cause Uncle Rich, with all due respect, you were a terrible driver (you scared the crap out of me every time we drove!)
Finally, thank god you know jesus, that means i get to see you again,
Lovingly,and respectfully submitted,
your nephew,
RICHARD KANE JUDY

I will always remember you as a leader - the best in your field. You were not afraid to make tough calls - and they were right on target. I will always admire your management style and your unique talents. I learned a lot from watching you and I thank you for everything you did for the employees and MIA. Your dedication, commitment, and vision were just a few of the talents you displayed at work. You will always be a very special man to MIA and those who worked for you. Thank you for being the best and leaving a legacy.
Lourdes Galera - at MIA from 1984 to today.

There won't be another Dick Judy. His innovative mind and dedication made work more an adventure than a task. He built a team that enjoyed working together, motivated them, and as a result much was accomplished.

Many of us were privileged to work at MIA under Mr. Judy's lengthy leadership. It was a great place to work while it lasted and we surely missed him and his top staff members after he left. Mr. Judy set the record for length of time (18 years) in the position and it will never be topped by anyone else.
Mr. Judy accomplished so much during his long tenure and the citizens of Dade County and South Florida benefited by having a vastly improved international airport to serve their traveling needs.
Like Nery said, Godspeed Mr. Judy!

Brilliant man who loved historic airport documents as much as I; it was a privilege to have worked for him! May God keep him in the Palm of His Hand. Godspeed, Mr. Judy. Nery Owens
