Obituary of John F. Weiss

John F. Weiss, Sr., 90, of Ocala, FL passed away peacefully on June 25, 2011 in Ocala, FL. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was born in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, NY in 1921 and lived in Elmont, NY from 1950 until 1993. He was a resident of Oak Run in Ocala, Fl from 1993 until his death. He retired as a Representative for Xerox Corporation. He was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ocala. He was an active member of the Republican Party and enjoyed travelling. During 1989 and 1990 he attended classes at Queens College in Queens, NY. His parents were Ellen R. Weiss ( Murray) and John F. Weiss of Brooklyn, NY. His late wife was Eileen M. Weiss (Walsh). He is survived by: six children, Mary Ellen Weiss, Anne Fries (Bob), Barbara Weiss, John F. Weiss, Jr. (Claire), Regina Tripp (Richard, dec.) and Eileen Fredericks (Steven); three grandchildren, Allison Fries (Jason), Robert Fries (Rayanne) and Shannon Fredericks; two great-grandchildren, Eva and Jasper Wedekind and his sister, Rita Rafferty. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, July 1, 2011 at 8:30AM at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 6455 SW State Road 200, Ocala with burial to follow with full military honors at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2011 from 2:00PM to 5:00PM in the Timber Ridge Chapel of Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 9695 SW 110th St., Ocala.
