Obituary of John P. Christoff

John P. Christoff, age 78, of Ocala, FL passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2011. He was born in Dearborn, MI on January 20, 1933. John grew up in W. Palm Beach, FL where he graduated from Palm Beach High School. He joined the US Navy and served during the Korean Conflict. After his military service he returned to the states and attended Palm Beach Junior College. He continued his studies at the University of Florida. John met and married Judy McClellan. He earned a degree in Architecture from the University of Florida. John practiced architecture for 40 years as JP Christoff and Assoc and retired as Christoff - Kreitemeyer Assoc in 2005. He was a member of Christ The King Anglican Church in Ocala. John was also a member of the State Board of Architecture, Marion County Planning and Zoning Board, Marion County Board of Adjustment, the Metro Ocala Rotary Club, Elks Club and Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He was also the Charter President of the Optimist Club and a Trustee of First Marion Bank. He was the Co-Owner of the Lamplighter and Fiddlestix restaurants. John loved gardening and spending time with family and friends at his homes in Ocala, North Carolina and Ormond by the Sea. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Judy Christoff of Ocala, FL; daughter Kathi (Jim) Christoff-Fox of Longwood, FL; son Steven (Sherrie) Christoff of Ocala, FL; daughter Carol (Rodney) C. Rogers of Summerfield, FL; brother Carl P. Christoff of W. Palm Beach, FL and grandchildren Cale Rogers, Alyson Rogers, Lauren (Tyler) Christoff Arrington, Evan Christoff, Adam Fox and Alexandra Fox. A memorial service will take place at Christ the King Anglican Church, 3850 West Anthony Road, Ocala, FL on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 12:00 noon with The Rev. Donald J. Curran, Jr. and Rev. Matthew T. Walter officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund at Christ The King Anglican Church or Hospice of Marion Co. PO Box 4860, Ocala, FL 34478 in memory of John. P.
