Obituary of Douglas E. Ryder

Retired Command Sergeant Major Douglas E. Ryder went to be with the Lord on August 3, 2011. He was born in Durham, NC on November 1, 1926 to Bonnie Bell Sewell Ryder and Doug E. Ryder. He was currently living in Summerfield after serving his country for 4 years in the Navy and 29 years with the Army. He obtained the rank of Command Sergeant Major and served in 3 different wars, WW II, Korea and 2 tours in Vietnam. He is survived by one sister, Mary Ann Ryder Higginbotham, of Marshall, TX, a step granddaughter, and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a wife of more than 30 years, Cell Ryder, a stepdaughter, sherry, and his latest wife of 17 years, Aline Green Ryder. A memorial service for Mr. Ryder will be held at 11:30am on Monday, August 15, 2011 at Florida National Cemetery, in Bushnell.
