Obituary of Jack Gilbert

Jack Gilbert, 83, Wildwood, FL, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2011. Mr. Gilbert was born in Wicksburg, Alabama and moved to the area 65 years ago. He was a carpenter and built many homes in Sumter County. Mr. Gilbert was a member of The First Baptist Church of Wildwood and the American Legion in Wildwood. His favorite hobbies were fishing and camping with his family, whittling and especially making walking sticks. He was also an avid Richard Petty fan. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Earline Gilbert, Wildwood, FL; two daughters, Jackie (Hiram) Locklear and Donna (Danny) Boyett, both of Wildwood, FL; three grandsons and one great-granddaughter. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at First Baptist Church of Wildwood. Burial will be in Florida National Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Monday, August 8, 2011, at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, The Villages. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be to the First Baptist Church of Wildwood Building Fund or Hospice of Sumter County.
