Obituary of Ruth Cavender Rhoades

Ruth Cavender Rhoades, age 90, of Ocala, Florida, passed away peacefully on the morning of March 21, 2024, at Brookdale - Senior Living Solutions, Ocala, Florida. She was born on May 14, 1933, in Columbus, Georgia to Judson and Ollie Mae (Eury) Cavender. The family moved to Jacksonville, Florida during World War II where Ruth graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. She married the love of her life James S. Rhoades on March 15, 1951, in Jacksonville, Florida. During her marriage Ruth enjoyed residing in many different locations including the US Virgin Islands. She was known for her love of people, beautiful smile and enduring faith in God. Ruth was loved by everyone who knew her. She was an excellent cook, talented seamstress and loved playing games which included much laughter. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and beloved son, David J. Rhoades. She is survived by her devoted husband of 73 years James Rhoades, daughter Denise (Robbie) Ocala, Florida, brother Ollie Cavender (Jean) Jacksonville, Florida, daughter-in-law Kathy Sarasota, Florida, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
