Obituary of William Ellin

William “Bill” Ellin (80) passed away peacefully in his home with his loving wife, Vicki Ellin, by his side on November 11th, 2023, in Ocala, Florida.  Bill was born February 13th, 1943, in Washington, DC, to Ann Alberta (Bliss) Ellin and Benjamin August Ellin, Jr.  Bill and his beautiful bride were married September 11th, 1971.

Bill was an avid golfer, loved watching live sporting events and enjoyed the Florida sunshine. He was a devoted husband, adored G-pa/Pops, cherished friend, and successful business owner. His life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, a zest for a good joke, and a fun time. Bill’s legacy will forever echo through the hearts of those who were privileged to know him.

Bill graduated Suitland High School, Suitland, MD, Class of 1961. He was a member of the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry (32°) and Patuxent No. 218, Upper Marlboro, MD. He was a successful entrepreneur, owning a gas station, carpet store, and what was undeniably his favorite, a soccer store.

Bill coached soccer at many levels ranging from preschoolers to the Charles County Community College women’s soccer team, to which he was named Coach of the Year in 2001.

He is survived by his wife, Vicki, four sons, Brad of Lincoln, NE, Blair (Jeni) of La Plata, MD, Jason (Casey) of Stony Brook, NY, Jeff (Stacy Daft) of Baltimore, MD, and one daughter Dede White (Jeff) of Kernersville, NC. He had five grandsons Drew Burns, Nathan White, Jeffrey and James Ellin, and Jacob Daft; six granddaughters Monique Dooley (Sean), Tracey O’Neill (William), Shannon Welch (Spencer), Madison White, Zara and Alex Ellin; five great-grandchildren, Devlyn Lindsay, Reagan Dooley, Reid White, Birdie Welch, and Liam O’Neill; one sister Ann Pinter (Tom); and many nieces, nephews, family members, and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, half-sister Cathryn Ellin, half-brother Benjamin Ellin, mother-in-law Virginia Sybert, father-in-law Abie Seybert, brothers-in-law John and Jerry Gunning, and nephew Frank Osgood.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Hospice of Marion County, Florida. The family would also like to thank the staff at Hospice of Marion County and Caregiver Donna Clinch for the support and compassion shown to Bill and his family over the past few years.
