Obituary for James Russell Yancey:

James Russell Yancey, peacefully went to be with the Lord on November 4, 2023 while doing what he loved “hunting”.  He was a dedicated and passionate individual who left an indelible mark on the lives of those who knew him.

Russell was born on November 3, 1958 in Ocala, Florida. He graduated from Forest High School in 1977 and ultimately made his career in the Manufacturing Home Industry where he was very successful and well respected across the United States. He married the love of his life, Lori, in June of 2001 and together they joined their families and began a life full of love, travel and lots of grandchildren to spoil. 

Russell had a deep love for the outdoors, and hunting was not just a pastime but a true passion that brought him immense joy. He was also an avid golfer, finding serenity on the golf course, just as he did in the woods.

Above all, Russell was a devoted family man. He was a loving husband, caring father, and beloved Pawpaw; his family being the cornerstone of his life. His legacy lives on through his 14 adoring grandchildren, whom he cherished and shared countless fond memories with.

James Russell Yancey was more than a man; he was a friend to all who crossed his path. His warm heart and generous spirit endeared him to everyone he met. He leaves behind a vast circle of friends who will forever remember his kindness, his smile, and his unshakeable love.

Russell’s presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will continue to brighten the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing him. In his honor, let us remember the laughter, the shared stories, and the love that he brought into our lives.

Russell is survived by his wife, Lori Yancey; children, Justin Yancey (Mindy), Christopher (Alora) Yancey, Jordan Kate Yancey (Matthew) McDonald, Natalie (Joshua) Click, Orlando (Meghan) Merced; brother Carl (Patti)Yancey; sister Stephanie (Dude) Phelan and 14 grandchildren-Kobe, Taylor, Railynn, Lowyn & Eastyn (Yancey), Bardot Zuzu (Bryant), Jude, Saul, Joshua, Parker, Bella and Beau (Click), Orlando III (Trip) and Oaklynn (Merced). 

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 13, 2023 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home 910 E. Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala, Florida 34470.  Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Ocala with a visitation one hour prior to the beginning of the service.  A burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 from 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm at Morris Park Country Club 2200 McKinley Ave, South Bend, IN 46615.
