Obituary of Mamie Evelyn Rizer Kovacs 

Mamie passed away peacefully on October 21, 2023 at the age of 93 at Putnam Caregivers in Palatka, Florida in the outstanding care of Vitas Hospice. Mamie was a devout Christian woman who cherished and treasured her family. 

She was born in Fort Meade, Florida on May 18, 1930, one of eight children born to Joseph Rizer and Maggie Nettles, who graduated from Reddick High School. She was briefly married to Henry Estes. 

She is predeceased by her Husband of 69 years, Ernie Kovacs, Siblings Annie Rizer, Charlie Rizer, Marvin Rizer, Lillie Rizer Bagley, Wesley Rizer She is survived by her sons, Robert (Priscilla) Estes of Ocala and David (Bunny) Kovacs of East Palatka, along with 6 Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great-Great Grandchildren, sister Emily Rizer Pardee, brother William “Billy” Rizer and numerous nieces and nephews, along with dear friend Celia Clyatt. 

Visitation will begin at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 28, 2023 with funeral services to follow immediately at Noon. Arrangements are under the care of Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home, 910 E Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala, Florida 34470. The burial will follow in Millwood Cemetery, 4951 NW 156th Street, Reddick Florida.
