Obituary of Donald H. Belanger
Donald H. Belanger, 85, of Ocala, passed away at home on Thursday, December 22, 2022.
He is survived by his son, Donald H. Belanger Jr. and grandson, Michael Belanger of Plantation, FL; daughter, Laura Naumann and her husband Terry of Leesburg, FL; grand-daughter, Teryn Prol and her husband, Ken and great-granddaughter, Piper Marie Prol of Alexandria, VA. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia, and brothers Michael and Gary. He is predeceased by his wife, Mary, and brothers Delbert, Robert and Ronald.
Don was born in Caribou, Maine on January 13, 1937, the son of Albert and Laura (Banville) Belanger and raised by Gerald and Azilda (Banville) Belanger who are also predeceased. He previously lived in Central Islip, NY. Don and his wife moved to Florida 52 years ago living in Hollywood and Plantation, FL. After retiring, they moved to Ocala, FL in 2005.
Don retired as an electrician where he was a long-time member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). He enjoyed being with family and friends, playing cards/games, frequent travel and cruises, and woodworking. Don was a life member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks where he had previously served as a Trustee at the Hollywood West Lodge.
We are blessed to have had such an amazing man in our lives and will miss him dearly.
Don was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will always be loved by us and never forgotten.
Visitation for Don will be held on Friday, December 30, 2022, at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services Chapel (910 E. Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala, FL 34470) beginning at 10 am with family and friends. A Catholic Service will begin at 11am at same location with interment to follow at Highland Memorial Park (1515 NE 3rd St, Ocala, FL 34470) at noon.
