Richard P. Thomas, 93, of Ocala, Florida went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 11th, 2022 surrounded by family and friends. He was born on February 9, 1929 in Johnstown Pennsylvania to Julia Bishop Thomas and Howard Thomas. He is predeceased by his parents and his siblings Helen Reid and Robert Thomas.
Richard proudly served our country as a Sergeant in the Army before working at General Electric in Cincinnati as a Project Manager in the Jet Engines Division for 37 years. He was married to the love of his life and high school sweetheart Margaret Abernethy for 71 years.
Dick and Peggy moved from Cincinnati to Ocala to embark on retirement in 1992. He enjoyed playing golf, traveling, reading, singing Sinatra’s “It Had To Be You”, being involved with his church and challenging himself to keep learning new things. You could always count on him sporting a stylish hat and never turning down a cookie.
He is survived by his wife Peggy, children Bonnie(Witold) and Jeff(Ruth Ann), grandchildren Jason, Chris, Megan and Jenny, and great-grandchildren Talia and Edgar. He will be dearly missed but we will continue living on in his honor, one day at a time.
