Obituary of Joan Louise Nichols

Joan Louise Nichols, 90, of Findlay Ohio passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2022. She was born February 19, 1932, in Findlay to her parents Arthur Buff and Beatrice LuLu (Parlette) Nichols. Her son Bradley Hicks preceded her in death on November 28, 1998. She is survived by daughter Dawn Marie (Hicks) Battle and her son Brian Emery Hicks. She was the youngest of five and her siblings all preceded her in death, Robert A. Nichols, Wayne E. Nichols, Maxine A Simpson, and Janice A. Riebow. She graduated from high school in Findlay in 1950. She went on to marry and have three children and enjoyed being a mother, she said those were the happiest years for her. A truly amazing mother she was. She went to work in 1976 at the Findlay Courier newspaper and became Executive Secretary to the President of the company for 27 years. She retired at 65 and moved to Ocala Florida with her dear friend Rex Swinehart where she enjoyed living for 25 years. She loved country music, road trips, the beach, seashells, knitting, reading, and enjoyed writing some poetry. She especially loved family. Her wishes are for her ashes to be buried at the base of her mother's grave in Maple Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Salvation Army, a charity she always loved and supported.
