Obituary of Grace Virginia Caraway Smith

Grace Virginia Caraway Smith, 82,  of Ocala, Florida passed away Friday, December 31 2021, in Ocala.  Born in Dale County, Alabama, Grace was a 45-year resident of Ocala.  An English teacher for 40 years, she enjoyed literature, poetry and books.  She taught in California, Alaska and was a teacher at Forest High School.  Grace loved gardening, landscaping and traveling, especially her trips to Greece, France and Alaska.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Ocala, Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority.

Grace was predeceased by her husband, Grover Allen Smith, to whom she was married for over 40 years and her son, Gregory Smith.  She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Smith, of Ocala, and grandchildren, Eli Smith of Frederick, MD, Joel Smith of Atlanta, GA and Jacob Smith of Marietta, GA.

A graveside service will be held Monday, January 17, at 8:45AM at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.  Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services are handling the arrangements.
