Obituary of John Everett Stockberger Jr

John Everett Stockberger, 79, of The Villages, FL, left our celestial sphere on November 18th, 2021, to spend eternity with God, his heavenly Father and all his Saints.

John was born in Winston-Salem, NC to John and Elma Stockberger. He graduated from Northwest High School in 1960 and attended Wake Forest University before joining the military. He served as a Navy corpsman throughout his service, which included independent medical duty on the USS Hooper, DE 1026, during the Vietnam War in 1967. After 20 years of service, John retired in 1981 to Orlando, FL where he worked as a licensed optician, helping establish the first Len’s Crafters in Central Florida. In his spare time, John loved traveling the United States with his wife in their Airsteam and spending time with his family. John moved to The Villages in 2006 and was an active member of the New Covenant United Methodist Church.

John is survived by his lovely wife Sandra, children, Carol Loudis, her husband Ray, John III, and Heather Bruner. Grandchildren, Alisha Loudis, Ashley Loudis, Raymond Loudis IV, Kathleen Loudis, Annie Lewis (Jacob), Timothy Arnold as well as eight great-grandchildren.

There will be a Celebration of Life service on Dec. 3rd at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home located at 3795 Wedgewood Lane beginning at 11:30 A.M. A Committal Service will follow at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made in John’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project (woundedwarriorproject.org/donate).
