Obituary of Adele Marie Baus

Family and friends mourn their loss of Adele Marie Baus, 87, of Ocala, Florida who passed away on August 1, 2021. Adele was born on October 23, 1933, the only child of the late Joseph Patrick and Bridget (Bessie) (Ennis) Garry.  A proud native of Brooklyn, New York, she graduated from St. Joseph High School, and worked as an executive secretary in Manhattan as a young woman.  She married the love of her life, Charles Thomas Baus, on May 28, 1955. Together they raised seven children. The family moved from Brooklyn to St. James, NY in 1961, where Adele and Charlie lived until relocating to Ocala in 1994.

After her youngest started school, Adele obtained her LPN certification and worked in the VA hospital in Northport, NY and later as a private duty nurse, retiring when she moved to Ocala.  Adele was an avid reader and enjoyed mysteries and historic novels.  She had a remarkable memory and could provide minute details related to happenings that took place decades ago.  She always remembered birthdays, weddings and other anniversaries. She was an active and devout member of St. Jude Catholic Church.  Adele will be missed for her sharp wit and incisive and accurate conclusions about people and events.

Predeceased by her husband in 2006, Adele is survived by her children, Thomas Charles Baus (Petra Wegner); Theresa Adele Baus (Stephen Capizzano); Gerard Walter (Ingrid); Mary Clare Knight (Wilmer); Patricia Regina Toth (Louis); Robert Gregory Baus (Denise) and Barbara Ellen Borreca (Vincent) and nine grandchildren, Joel Thomas Baus (Josephine Schlick); Holly Ann Baus; Margaret Katherine Toth; James Louis Toth; Bryant Dalton Baus; Joseph Charles Borreca; MaryBeth Ellen Borreca; Brandon Robert Borreca and Nicholas William Borreca.
