Obituary of Dorothy Talmadge Gambill

Dorothy Talmadge Gambill, 98, of Ocala, Florida passed away June 30, 2021 at Brookdale Pinecastle Claire Bridge, Ocala, Florida. She was born in 1922 in Caney Springs, Tennessee to Talmadge and Olivia (Cole) Wilson.  She moved to Ocala in 1976 with her husband Tom from Stow, OH.  Dorothy was a homemaker and also worked at Ben Franklin, TG & Y, and Clothworld.  She was a member of the "Red Hats" and Central Church of Christ in Ocala.  She enjoyed gardening, being a cub scout den mother, sewing, cooking,  being a homeroom mother, and rescuing wild birds, squirrels, and rabbits.  Mostly she was a loving wife and mother of 3 boys and 7 grandchildren,  8 great grandchildren,3 step great great grandchildren,.  Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Thomas E. Gambill, Jr., son Gene T. Gambill, and two sisters; Thelma E. Davis and Sarah Thompson.

 

She is survived by sons Ronald (Ilse) Gambill of Land of Lakes, FL, and Stephen (Bethany) Gambill of Ocala, FL, daughter in law Terri Gambill of Broadview Heights, OH, grandchildren; Sylvia, Christopher, Andrea, Sarah, Michael, Matthew, and Nancy and Jackie(Scott) Christman of Sumter, SC .

 

Visitation will be 2-4pm on Sunday July 11th at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Service in Ocala.

Funeral Service will be 10am Monday, July 12th at the funeral home chapel with burial to follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.

 

Donations in Dorothy's name can be made to Hospice of Marion County.
