Milton L. (Fred) Frederiksen, Sergeant USMC Vietnam Veteran, received his final set of orders on 3 March 2020. He will report to Saint Peter immediately and is looking forward to his next assignment.
Fred was born in Tyler, MN on 11 July 1944 to the late Donald and Ruth Frederiksen, and is also preceded in death by sister Caroline and brother Bruce. He met Pam Geier of Willow Springs, IL while stationed at Great Lakes Naval Base in 1966 and has been happily married for the past 52 years. Together they raised three wonderful children in Mokena, IL. He retired after 30 years (and lots of overtime!) from Illinois Bell / Ameritech / AT&T and moved to The Villages in 1999.
Because Fred could not sit still, his first retirement lasted only a few months before he began working again at Disney Telecommunications for 7 years. After a second short retirement, he has worked the past 12 years as part of the maintenance crew for McDonald’s in Ocala where he loved to drive his bucket truck!
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Pam; and their 3 children; son Brian, his wife Melissa and their 3 children Darby, Soren, and Joelle; daughter Kristen, her husband Barry and their 2 daughters Delaney and Hannah; and son Mark, his wife Brandy and their 3 children Lars, Anders, and Dagny. He is also survived by sister Kathy Hall and her daughter (niece) Jennifer Miller and family and nephew Erik Dyresen and family.
When not working, he kept extremely active in The Marine Corps League Colorguard, Dragon Boating, and RV-ing across the USA. Memorial service is pending. In lieu of flowers, donations to Disabled American Veterans (www.dav.org) may be made in honor of Milton L. Frederiksen. Sentiments may be left online at www.hiers-baxley.com.
