Obituary of Bruce Stewart Shaw

Bruce Stewart Shaw, Deputy Chief, 74, died peacefully surrounded by his family on May 31, 2019. Born in Cranston, RI, He was the son of William and Alice May Hazel (Johnson) Shaw.

 

Bruce was a member of the Cranston Fire Department for 30 years, 8 of which he served as Fire Marshal for the city. He also served on the board for the International Association of Fire Fighters.

 

Devoted husband and father, Bruce was a source of inspiration and strength to all his family and friends.

 

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Sallymae (Canavey) Shaw, his two sons Robert and his wife Martha, Thomas and his wife Dina, and grandchildren Abigail, Hannah, Kelsey and Ryan Thomas Shaw, and Liam Martin, along with many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister Carol Capuano and his brother William Shaw.

 

Funeral services will be held in Rhode Island at a later date.
