Obituary of Joyce Strickland Rose

Joyce Strickland Rose, 85, of Ocala, FL, passed away on Friday, February 1, 2019. Joyce was born on December 29, 1933 in Chadbourn, North Carolina to Melvin and Josie Strickland.

As a wife of an Army officer, she traveled the world, supporting her husband, Walter, in his service to defend freedom. She loved music and her church and was a lifelong choir member, Sunday School Teacher, and event organizer. Church, family, and her many pets were the focus of her life. 

She is survived by her two sons, Michael (Stacey) Rose, Alpharetta, GA, Reggie Rose, Ocala, FL, sister, Johnsie Strickland, Lake Wacamaw, NC, brother, Edwin (Barbara) Strickland, Loris, SC, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Walter Rose. A funeral service will be held at 10:00AM on February 8, 2019 at College Road Baptist  Church, 5010 SW College Road Hwy 200, Ocala, FL, 34474. A visitation will be held at 9:30AM until the start of the service on February 8, 2019 at College Road Baptist  Church. Interment will be in Florida National Cemetery.
