Dear Garner family,
I am very sorry for your loss. A scripture that encouraged me very much when I have lost loved ones in death is Isaiah 25:8. It says “He will swallow up death forever and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away tears from all faces.”

Dear Garner family,
In Matthew 5 it says “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” I believe your husband/father/ grandfather’s life has done that.
I believe with all my heart that when we are separated from our physical body in death that we are in the presence of the Lord. I base that on the following scriptures which have brought me great comfort since Larry’s death 23 years ago:
“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
2 Corinthians 4:16-18 NIV
AND
“Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. For we live by faith, not by sight. We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it.”
2 Corinthians 5:6-9 NIV
Our prayers and sympathy are with each and everyone of you during this time of separation. May the peace of our Lord, that passes all understanding, surround you and comfort you during this transitional time.
We are thankful that Jennifer and Rob’s relationship brought you into our lives a quarter of a century ago.
Love,
Pat & John Gleeson

As the first born, I have been blessed to call Walton Garner, dad. He taught me what it means to love others, how to be honest to a fault, the value of an education, to never stop learning, to never stop exploring and to love God with all your heart. The respect and admiration we all have for our dad is grown from a lifetime of unconditional love, supplanted with an unspoken expectation for all of us to become the best people that we could be. I hope that his love has shown through me to my children and loved ones. I pray that my children, and now grandchildren, will become a visible light in the world that continue to shine from his love. Till we see you again.
