Dear Funk family,
I am very sorry for your loss. The Bible gives us a wonderful hope for the future. In Revelation 21:4 it says "He will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more. Neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore the former things have passed away."

Jackie, I am so sorry to just learn of Fred's passing. I just thought of Fred's love for pickleball recently when driving by the tennis courts in the Park on Willow Street Pike. I enjoyed working with you guys at the Bank of Lancaster Co in "downtown" Willow Street! Best wishes for peaceful memories and comfort from those around you in FL....Beverly Reed

My condolences to Jacque, your family and Fred’s family. I only met him a few times but it was enough to recognize his passion for the people and things he loved.

We will miss Fred...he was such fun on the softball field and contributed greatly with fine play both at first base and at bat! He was one of the special guys who brought spirit and uplifted the team, making us all play better. RIP, Fred!

Dear Jacque and family -
Our hearts and thoughts are with you at this very very sad time. We will miss our “buddy” - his laugh, his welcoming smile, working with him on his programs, learning from him and sharing. We shall never forget the excitement he shared with all who visited the Fred Funk Butterfly Garden. I (Judy) will always cherish the memory of our 2018 summer garden tour in July and August - and the many people we met on those two summer days. We had so much fun. —- most sincerely, Judy and Les Smith

Fred was a friend.
I was in school with Fred from 1st-4th grade and then again in high school. I have always admired Fred as a confident, reasoned risk-taker and someone who could make it happen.
In my professional career, Fred compared favorably to the character and capabilities of people who, in my opinion, were his equivalent. This includes Ross Perot, for whom I worked for 28 years.
Fred will continue to be a positive influence for all who knew him.

Anna Mae and the rest of the Funk family. I think of all the fun I have enjoyed down on your family farm. Sitting in the strawberry fields after school with Anna Mae eating the fruits of your dads labor, is one of the best memories of my childhood. I can remember Freddie especially when we got to high school and he was one of the big kids. He was so handsome and so kind to this little 7th grader in 1959. When he opened the farm market after he graduated from Penn Manor it was a place my dad would let me drive to with my learners permit!! From 3 Blue Rock Road to Funks Farm I could drive blindfolded. Oh the memories... as they say if you are in someone’s memories you will never be forgotten. So it shall be for you Freddie Funk.

We will always have fond memories of seeing Fred at Funk’s Market. He always had a smile on his face and was always so nice to our children when they were little. Some of our fondest memories of our young children were from Funk’s. I’m sure there are lots of folks who have those same kind of memories thanks to Fred. That is a wonderful legacy and something for the Funk family to be very proud of. May he rest in peace.
