Obituary of Linda Lou Hoof

THE VILLAGES – Linda Lou Hoof, a women of 72 years, passed peacefully from this life on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 in her home.

Born in Viroqua, WI she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Bernice (Hatland) Stone.  Linda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She met the love of her life Kenneth Hoof, at a friend’s gathering in Janesville, WI. They were married in 1985 and shortly thereafter moved to Fort Wayne Indiana for his job.

They lived happily in Fort Wayne for 15 years where she worked as a tax assessor clerk for the city of Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was surrounded by many friends and family in these years and happily retired in 2001.

She and her husband, Ken moved to The Villages, FL from Fort Wayne, IN. She enjoyed her retirement and easy lifestyle of The Villages. She loved visits from all of her family, friends and always had an open heart for those in need.

Linda was truly a special lady for so many. Her heart was always kind. She always smiled, had a warm hug and knew what to say. She was there for many in their times of need. “She gave us strength and might”. She wasn’t shy about her opinion or as some would say “full of grit”. However, she always backed that up with her love. “She taught us love and how to fight for what we wanted.” A stronger person would certainly be hard to find.

She fought for all of us in one way or another.  She was kind, loving, and not afraid to give a kick in the pants when needed. She protected her loved ones fiercely and showed her love by the little things she would do whether it was a home cooked meal, a big hug, or simply helping with laundry to get some quality conversation time. We will all carry forward the lessons she’s showed us and certainly are better people for having her in our lives.

She has so many that love her and will miss her deeply: her husband of 32 beautiful years, Kenneth Lee Hoof; her children; Brenda Carlson of New Haven, IN; Brian Westendorf of Fort Wayne, IN; Bruce and (Nichole) Westendorf of Fort Wayne, IN; 4 grandchildren, 5 furry grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many others who called her their second Mom.

A committal Service will be held at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL on Friday, October 26, 2018 at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to https://www.diabetesresearch.org/Give .
