Obituary of Eleanor Faye Tackett

Eleanor Faye Hogg Tackett, 71 of Ocala, Florida died August 19, 2011 after a brief illness. Born April 16, 1940 in Whitesburg, Kentucky, Faye moved to Lake County, Florida in 1948 with her family. She graduated from the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind in Saint Augustine where she proudly played on the women's varsity basketball team, and attended Jones Business College in Orlando. Faye was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church of Ocala. She was also a member of the Silent Neighbors of Lake County in Mount Dora and the Big Sun Association of the Deaf in Ocala. Faye was a founding member of the Southwest Virginia Club of the Deaf in Norton, Virginia. Faye was preceded in death by her parents Oscar Samuel and Nellie Mae Hogg of Altoona, Florida and by nine siblings. Faye is survived by her husband of 27 years Herbert Tackett; daughters Geneva Berry Jernigan and Victoria Berry Smith of Ocala; a son Johnny Berry of Orlando; grandchildren Donnie Berry and Julie Jernigan of Ocala; sons-in-law Daniel Jernigan of Ocala and Michael Kelley of Orlando; and by four brothers John Hogg and Woodrow Hogg of Winter Haven, Robert Hogg of Umatilla, and Abraham Hogg of Ocala, as well as numerous nephews and nieces. At Faye's request, a funeral service will not be held; however, a service of remembrance will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, September 24 at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Ocala. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a tax-deductible donation in honor of Faye to the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind's Annual Fund, 207 N.
