Obituary of Patrick E. Newton

THE VILLAGES — Patrick E. Newton, 71, died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011. Mr. Newton was born in Queens, N.Y., and moved to The Villages from Wappinger Falls, N.Y., in 2001. He was a Teamster for Thomas English Muffins; an Army veteran; a member of the Irish American Club; Queens, NY Club; Village Idiots Club; and tai-chi. His hobbies were golf and tai-chi; he enjoyed classic cars; collected Waterford crystal, guns, Irish memorabilia, patriotic memorabilia; traveling on cruises and throughout the United States; and celebrating his Irish heritage. Survivors include his wife, Mary; brothers John and Francis, both of New York City; and sister, Mary Hawkins, Cary, N.C. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services-The Villages. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or The Salvation Army.
