Obituary of Carra Waters Davison

Carra Waters Davison, 91, passed away at her home in Ocala on the evening of February 13th, 2024.  Carra was born on March 5th, 1932, the fifth of seven children born to Claude and Lodie Waters of Worthington Springs, Florida.  Carra, known most often as “Sweetpea” to her many children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, leaves behind a very large and loving family to cherish her memory and celebrate the joy of having her in their lives.

Carra married the love of her life, James G. “Jim” Davison, Jr. on November 5, 1947.  Their seventy years long marriage brought them seven children.  Possessing strength of character rooted in her upbringing on her family’s farm and sharpened through the decades of her life allowed her to serve as the beloved matriarch of the family of whom she was so very proud.

During her life Carra held many interests and passions for which she will be well-remembered.  Notably, she served with pride as a Navy wife, being the homemaker for and raising their children while Jim was deployed.  She was a talented gardener who could make any plant grow and thrive, along with being a wonderful cook whose recipes will be cherished by her offspring and friends alike.  Carra remained a farm girl at heart throughout her life. After Jim’s retirement from the U.S. Navy, she started with a career raising registered Hampshire hogs on their farm in Alachua County.  This career was followed by another which included raising beef cattle and thoroughbred horses.  Carra and Jim enjoyed that pursuit well into their retirement years.  She was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for many years.  She also enjoyed many cruises and vacations with her husband, children and other family members.

Carra is preceded in death by her parents; brothers JL, Bland, and Pete; sisters Anita, Jeanette, and Edith; husband Jim; and a son-in-law Barry Baskin.  Left to cherish her memory are her seven children: Jimmy Davison (Cheryl), Allan Davison (Margie), Lodell Davison, Debbie Perna (Luis), Jennifer Baskin, Teresa McClellan, and Robert Davison (Kayla), along with grandchildren James Davison (Kelly), April May (Matt), Cedric Thomas, Deitra Thomas, Louis Perna (Lauren), Carrie Perna, Robert Davison (Paige), Zack Davison (Abby), and Jenna Davison.  She is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
