Obituary of Maureen Potts

Maureen Potts (72) passed away Thursday March 1st, 2018 in Ocala, Florida after a long illness. Maureen is survived by her husband of almost 46 years Gordon O. Potts Jr.; daughter Kirsten Nicolosi (husband Christopher); daughter Katherine Hunt (husband Donald) and grandson Lawson; brother Patrick Harrigan (wife Karin); sister Dymphna Harrigan; brother Michael Harrigan; sister Camillus Prosser (husband James); sister-in-law Tammara Rouse (husband Jeffrey), mother-in-law Pauline Potts, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Celestine and Stella Harrigan; sister Mary Catherine Harrigan; sister Dr. Celestine Harrigan, brother-in-law David Cortez, and father-in-law Dr. Gordon O. Potts Sr. Maureen was born in Johnstown, PA to a large family and grew into a beautiful, principled, and independent young woman. She was educated at Robert Morris in Pittsburgh and moved to Boston where she fell in love with Gordon, got married, and started a family. Generous of spirit, she put everything she had into being a devoted wife and mother. She dedicated her life to helping those around her and always put others first. She was an avid reader with a passion for knowledge, history, poetry, and debate. Maureen also had a strong work ethic demonstrated in positions with two prominent northeast medical schools, the Warren County Government office in New Jersey and the local School Board in Ocala, Florida. Maureen was loved very much and will be missed by all whose lives she touched. Her passion for family, literature, and the arts will live on in the hearts of those who love her. We are celebrated best by the ones who loved us most. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday March 17th, 2018 at the Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home, 910 E Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala, FL 34470.
