Obituary of Mary Morgan Long

Mary Morgan Long, 83, of Ocala was welcomed home on Thursday May 17, 2018. Mary was born to Clemmy and Wanda Morgan on March 8th, 1935 in Ronceverte, West Virginia.  After meeting and marrying her husband of 66 years, Elmer Long in Ronceverte, she moved to Ocala, Florida in 1956.  West Virginia would always be home to Mary and she spent vacations there every year.

Mary is survived by her husband Elmer H. Long, son Charles R. Long, daughter-in-law Deborah Long, sisters Vivian Baldwin and Donna Joan Wagner.  Mary had 6 grandchildren: Angela Vey, Paul Sherrouse, Sandra Mills, Heather Franqui, Courtney Ramsey and Leslie Blackowske as well as 16 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents Clemmy and Wanda Morgan, brother Argil Morgan and daughter Nancy Kay Mills.

Mary, a faithful member of Fort Douglas Baptist Church, enjoyed gospel music and for a time ministered through song as a member of the Rejoicers with several family members.  Mary was a loving mother and grandmother. After raising her children and caring for her own grandchildren she became “Grandma” to many more families caring for their children from birth until Kindergarten.  Mary enjoyed baking for her family who expected her chocolate pie at every holiday.  She was an avid reader with an ever present stack of books beside her favorite chair.
