James Davison, Jr.

Obituary of James G. Davison, Jr.

James G. Davison, Jr., 92, of Ocala, passed away on April 1st, 2018 while surrounded by his loving family.

James, known to many as “Jim”, was born in New Orleans, La in 1925 and moved to Florida with his parents, James Sr. and Frances, at the age of 3.  At the age of 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II and saw service in both the North Atlantic and Pacific Theaters.  Jim continued his naval service for 25 years, a period which spanned the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War.  His sustained distinguished service earned him a commission and he retired with the rank of Lieutenant.

After retiring from the Navy he moved his family home to Florida where he raised cattle and thoroughbred horses for a second career.  Jim also had a third career in the mobile home industry as a regional operations director for Riblet Products and as a Plant Manager for Lippert Manufacturing.

Jim’s many interests are highlighted by his 40 year membership in the Island Grove Masonic Lodge, the Hawthorne Masonic Lodge #103 and the Gainesville Shrine Club.   He was also active in the Elks and the Beta Sigma Phi Envoy Clubs.

Most noteworthy in his life was a 70 years long marriage to his wife, Carra.  Together they experienced many relocations and career changes, but steadfast in their time together, was their love for each other.  This love was matched only by their love for their 7 children, 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Jim leaves to cherish his memory and continue his legacy his wife, Carra  Waters Davison, and their children: Jimmy Davison (Cheryl), Allan Davison (Marjorie), Lodell Davison, Debbie Perna (Luis), Jennifer Baskin, Teresa McClellan, and Robert Davison (Kayla). He is also survived by two sisters, Mayola and Anne.  He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Lamar, Donald, Walter, and Alice.
