Obituary of Raymond Edward Allen

Daddy On October 27, 1920 in Soddy Daisy, TN my father was born to Edward and Ethel Allen. He was the youngest of 4 children. His brothers and sisters were grown when he was born. My Dad's father passed away when he was seven years old. Life was hard for my dad while other children were playing my dad would go door to door selling vegetables and chickens to help take care of his mother. At the time it may have been seemed unfair to him, but it helped shape him into the great man he became. My dad met and married the love of his life, Thelma. He always said she was the most beautiful girl in Soddy. In 1942, my dad was drafted into the Navy, leaving behind a wife and two children at the time. After the war, dad came home and started working and taking care of his family. My dad was a home builder and one of the best carpenters around. In 1950, my parents had me, making a total of 1 boy and 2 girls. As a child I remember always going to church or to the lake or camping. In 1955, my father moved us to Florida so that we could have a better life. It sure was paradise then, coming from the snow in January to blue skies and sun. My dad was a peace loving man. He never asked for much as long as his wife and children were happy, he was happy. Daddy always saw that all of our needs were met. I never heard my dad complain about going to work. He was a quiet and gentle man always saying thank you to everyone. He would walk a mile to give someone back a penny. Dad loved to give hugs and tell you that he loved you. He had such an impact on my life. I am the person I am today because of my dad. I miss him so very much, but he is alive in my heart. Love Brenda (Or Known By Daddy As Winnie Winkle)
