Obituary of Robert Appleget

Robert L. Appleget, Jr. Mr. Robert L. Appleget, Jr., 60, Ocala, died Sunday, February 1, 2009 at his residence. A native of Ft. Pierce, Florida, he moved to the Ocala area in 1973. Bob was a loving husband, and dutiful father and grandfather, who was also involved in his community in many ways. He was a Partner with Appleget & Raduns, P.A., in Ocala. He practiced in the areas of Appellate practice; Marital law; and Family law. Mr. Appleget has received two Florida Bar Pro Bono Awards for the Fifth Circuit; the Richard D. Custureri Pro Bono Award for Marion County in 1998; and the Boss of the Year 1989 by the MCLSA. He attended the University of Florida to obtain his Bachelors of Arts in 1970 and his Juris Doctor in 1973. Bob served as President, Treasurer and Secretary for the Marion County Bar Association and also held a chair on the Marion County Bar Association Grievance Committee and the Family Law Section. He has given back to the community by acting in the following: Budget and Admission Committee of the Marion County United Way; Chairman for the Marion District of the Boy Scouts of America; Vice Chairman of the North Central Florida March of Dimes; Member of the Public Service Nominating Commission; and Former Marion County/State of Florida Committeeman for the Democratic Party. Bob has served his country in the United States Army Reserves as a Captain and received his Honorable Discharge in 1978. He also was a Varsity Letterman on the University of Florida Swim Team, and had also taught swimming at CFCC for the Marlins. He was an avid reader of history, especially Civil War history. Bob is survived by his wife Nancy, son Andrew Lee Appleget of Seattle, Wa., Justin Mathew Tindall of Peoria, Il., daughters Shelby Jean Appleget and Jimi Lee Taylor of Ocala, and grandchildren Elizabeth Renee Ambrose, Nicholas Roth Ambrose, Mia Rose Ambrose, and Mathew Robert Tindall. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, February 5, 2009, at Christ the King Anglican Church, 3801 N. US Highway 441, Ocala, with the Rev. Donald J. Curran officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11 AM at the Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace School, 4410 SE 3rd Avenue, Ocala, FL 34480.
