Obituary of John Howard

John Christopher Howard, 88 of Ocala, Fl. passed away on Monday, March 9, 2009 at Legacy Hospice House in Ocala, FL. Mr. Howard was a native of Boston, Massachusetts. A graduate of Harvard University, Mr. Howard was a Public School Teacher and Basketball Coach in Wellesley, Mass. for many years. John and Ursula moved to Ocala in 1989 from Cape Cod. He was an Army veteran serving in WWII as a decoder working on the Enigma Machine. John composed musical scores and was an accomplished violinist. Mr. Howard was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Ursula Howard. Funeral Mass for Mr. Howard will be Monday, March 16, 2009 at 2:30 PM at Queen of Peace Catholic Church SR 200 in Ocala with Father Patrick J. O'Doherty officiating. Visitation will be from 2-5 PM, Sunday, March 15, at Hiers-Baxley - TimberRidge Chapel, 9695 S.W. 110th Street, Ocala. Interment will be Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at 2:30 PM at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fl. with Military Honors provided by Angela Santos Post #4781 of Ocala.
