Obituary of Dorothy Bishop

Bishop, Dorothy Ladd 80, died Thursday, April 23, 2009 in Ocala, Florida. Mrs. Bishop was born September 26, 1928 in Snyder, Arkansas, moving to Ocala in 1983 from Cape Girardeau, MO where she was the Co-Owner/Operator of a Chevrolet dealership for many years with her husband. Mrs. Bishop was a very active member in the Pioneer Garden Club, having served two terms as President as well as holding various positions at the State level. Mrs. Bishop was Southern Baptist and a Member of the First Baptist Church of Ocala, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She is Survived by her Step Daughters Pam(Van) Shelley of Burlinson, TN, Patti Boyer of Asheville, NC, Nephews Clifton Ladd and Keith Ladd of Hamburg, AR, Cousin Tommy Hooks of Crossett, AR, 5 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren, Special Friends Marjorie, Betty and Mary Ann. She was preceded in death by her Husband James L. Bishop, Brother Earl Ladd and Nephew Glen Ladd. Funeral Services will be Monday April 27, 2009 at First Baptist Church Ocala at 10:00 AM with Dr. Phillip E. Hanes, officiating. Visitation1 hour prior to the services at the Church. In Lieu of Flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Ocala Building Fund, Pioneer Garden Club Horticultural Endowment at CFCC, or Hospice of Marion County. Burial will be in Hamburg, AR. Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, Ocala in Charge of Arrangements.
