Obituary of Claire Louise Dowling

Claire Louise Dowling, 82, Ocala, Florida passed away peacefully on February 3, 2023, after a lengthy illness in the presence of her husband and family at E.W. & Lucille Cate’s Hospice House. She was born on March 25, 1940, in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

She attended Sacred Heart Elementary School, St. Anthony High School both in New Bedford, Massachusetts and earned a master's degree from University of Notre Dame, South Bend, Indiana. Claire was a retired schoolteacher and also worked for many years at Ocala Star Banner where she retired as an administrative assistant to the publisher. Before working at the Ocala Star Banner, she was a teacher at Grace Episcopal School. She enjoyed the company of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed walking in Shalom Park, and breakfast with friends and family at First watch. She loved Jeopardy, jumbles, crossword puzzles and Sudoku. She was happily married to her devoted husband for Forty-Seven years.

Claire is preceded in death by her mother and sisters, Beatrice and Jaqueline.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Dowling, Ocala Florida, daughters Dawn Dowling, East Providence, Rhode Island and Tonya Fasciglione, Ocala, Florida. Grandchildren Trent Machado, Ocala Florida, Peter-Vincent Cullerton, East, Providence, Rhode Island, Robert Cullerton, Burriville, Rhode Island, Trishaann Holland, Ft. Carson, Colorado, Holden Sullivan, East Providence, Rhode Island and Carlin, East Providence, Rhode Island, Great grandchildren, Kylie, Ft. Carson, Colorado and Colt, Ft. Carson, Colorado.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, Ocala Florida, with Father Pat Sheedy, officiating.

Inurnment will take place in Fall River, Massachusetts

In lieu of flowers the family asked that donations be made to the E.W. & Lucille Cates House, Ocala Fl. They are an amazing group of people who deserve recognition.
