Obituary of Carolyn Luffman Williams

Carolyn Luffman Williams (92) passed peacefully at Brookdale Chambrel Pinecastle on May 27th, 2022. She was born in Ocala at Munroe Hospital on October 11, 1929 and was the only child of Albert C. (Buttons) and Ethel S. Luffman. She graduated from Ocala High School and she then attended Stetson University studying childhood education. Carolyn was a member for 83 years of the First United Methodist Church and active for 77 of those years. She enjoyed teaching, singing and greeting for the Friendly Fellowship Sunday School Class. She held numerous positions within the church including president of the United Methodist Women, Circle Leader, Sunday School Teacher, and various other positions over the years. Carolyn also taught Bible, as history in the Marion County School system. She was a member and past president of PEO Sorority Chapter EQ. But her true passion was being a homemaker. She loved to cook and took great joy in sharing her dishes with others. Her favorite place to visit was the beach and being in the sun. She loved her family, developing relationships with people, enjoyed playing golf and was an avid bridge player. Married the love of her life, Melvin H. Williams, who predeceased her in 2009 after 62 years of marriage. Together they shared being a charter member of a Supper Club that started in 1955 with many local couples which ran for more than 50 years.

Carolyn had three children: daughter, Martha Pallant and her husband Dr. Bennett Pallant of Mahopac, NY; son, Greg Williams of Crawfordville, FL; son, Gaylon Williams and his wife Patty Williams of Ocala, FL; five grandchildren, Scott, David, Jennifer, Chip and Bo; seven great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Isabella, Asher, Grayson, Emery, Cody and Levi.

Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 26th at First United Methodist Church, 1126 E. Silver Springs Boulevard, Ocala, FL. with a reception to follow in the Family Life Center. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the First United Methodist Church (Capital Campaign Fund) or Hospice of Marion County at 3231 S.W. 34th Avenue, Ocala, Fl 34474. Care is being entrusted to Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services.
