Vivian Annette Milton Griggs Sept 19, 1928 Arcadia, Fl - Jan 28, 2022 Ocala, FL Raised in Wildwood, FL and employed by Florida Telephone for seven years until she married Wilbur Eugene Griggs May 20, 1956 and moved to Lake Jumper in the Ocala National Forest where she lived until moving to Hawthorne Village Assisted Living for the last four and a half years. She operated Lake Jumper Fish Camp and helped Wilbur with citrus, watermelons and forestry for many years while providing a loving home for her daughter and husband. She was predeceased by her parents Herbert and Annie Ruth Milton and siblings Roland, Hayward, Nell and Dudley; and her husband Wilbur. She endured many setbacks during the last four and a half years of her life but faced each one bravely.
She will be missed by her daughter Karin and the many acquaintances she made in the forest which she called home. Thank you to the staff at Hawthorne Village, Lavern, Joya, Jackie, Brenda, Roxanne and many others who treated her like family and to Debbie and her fellow hospice employees who cared for her.
A graveside service for Vivian will be held at Ocklawaha Bridge Baptist Church Cemetery on Thursday, February 3 at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers donations would be appreciated to Marion County Humane Society or Animal Services, Rooterville Animal Sanctuary, Melrose, FL, UF School of Forest, Fisheries and Geomatics, Florida Wildlife Federation or the Longleaf Alliance.
