Obituary of Jose L. Arocho, Sr.

Jose L. Arocho Sr., better known as Roch, 60, of Ocala, Florida passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Advent Health of Ocala. Though he battled with heart problems in recent years, he showed his courage by facing difficulties in life with a smile and a laugh. He was born September 3rd, 1960 the son of Felipa Torres and Elpidio Arocho. Jose was a native of Newark, New Jersey before moving to the Ocala area from Beach Park, Illinois in 2019. Jose and his loving wife, Soraida, shared 32 wonderful years together making memories.

Jose was someone who had a love of life and a firm understanding of what was important — the simplicity of living a life with those you love. He was caring and enjoyed spending his time with his family, making jokes (lots of them), cooking delicious meals, and being handy around the house. He was a real DIY man, from building the back deck of his house, and painting his daughter’s house, to fixing cars and anything that he thought was broken or he broke. He was a comedian who kept people rolling in laughter because he could find the humor in any situation. Whether you were a friend or family, you were guaranteed a good laugh with Jose’s quick wits and comebacks.

Jose is survived by his loving wife, Soraida Moreno; son, Jose L. Arocho Jr., daughter, Tiffany Fontanez; granddaughter, Leilany Fontanez, goddaughter, Eneris Arias, brother Carlo Arocho, and a host of loving in-laws, nieces and nephews, and friends from all over.

Jose was a strong, proud, and good man. He is loved and will be fondly missed and remembered by his family and friends with the endless memories he left.
